National Signs is committed to supporting organizations in Houston and throughout Texas that make a positive impact on our communities. We’re blessed to have many opportunities to give back to our great city and state each year and truly look forward to each one.
One organization that we are very proud to support is Special Olympics. Specifically, we are involved with Special Olympics Texas to support their efforts providing opportunities for determined athletes in Texas to find success through athletics.
Unfortunately, this year has provided a whole new set of challenges for our Special Olympians. In his Advisory Board role, our CEO, Cody Johnson, has helped the non-profit organization continue to find new ways to keep the athletes and their families involved and active during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Supporting Breakfast of Champions for Special Olympics Texas
One of the most important ways that National Signs helped Special Olympics Texas this year was supporting their major fundraising event, Breakfast of Champions.
Due to the pandemic, the annual Breakfast of Champions was held virtually in October to showcase the Special Olympics athletes, their stories, their families, and their impact on local communities.
We had the opportunity to not only sponsor the event, but grab a virtual table which allowed us a front row seat to the incredible story of how Special Olympics Texas and its volunteers have served 55,000+ athletes across the state of Texas.
We were moved by the event and how communities have come together to rally behind the athletes in 2020. The social distancing required during the pandemic has been particularly difficult on Special Olympics athletes, families, and the organization. That’s why fundraising continues to be so important in supporting this socially-inclusive organization through a very difficult period.
With the support raised in October, we are confident that Special Olympics Texas will be able to continue providing opportunities for current athletes to succeed in athletics and make a positive impact on their community.
Special Olympics Texas could still use your support, however, to reach the finish line of 2020. Consider making a year-end donation through SOTX.org to help the organization overcome the difficulties created by the pandemic. This way, Special Olympics Texas can help even more athletes discover their potential through their year-round sports training and competitions.
Will you help this holiday season?
We look forward to continuing to support wonderful organizations that are making a difference in Houston and the state of Texas.
